You Are Connected to the Entire Universe

One way I want to help reach people through our Conscious Living for You page is using my design skills to create motivational or inspirational graphics.

You Are Connected to the Entire Universe
Graphic by Paul Micarelli

It has been shown that the large-scale structure of the cosmos is an interconnected web, similar to the net of neurons in our brain, which in turn is similar to the ever-fluctuating connected patterns of the quantum field.

There are theories that at the Plank scale of subatomic realm, all information is connected in a holofractal unified field.

This endless array of connection, that exists at all scales, is an aspect of the fundamental unity of reality of which we are an integral part.

We are a part of The All, and The All is a part of us.

I am Grateful

"I am Grateful"

It's been awhile since I've made a motivational graphic, but being Thanksgiving, I wanted to express deep gratitude for everything that I have been able to experience in this life.

The thing is- we don't need to wait one day out of the year to give thanks. Part of my daily morning routine before work is to stand in prayer pose & give gratitude before my yoga/workout flow. I express thanks for my wife Loretta, health, family, career, and just being alive.

Then, I extend this to as many moments throughout the day as I can, being conscious of my appreciation for *everything* - good & bad. The "good" makes you happy, and the "bad" makes you stronger by getting through it.

Take moments throughout your day and just be grateful. It changes your perception & your experience.

Life Force vs. Negative Vibes

I always tell my wife Loretta to practice what's illustrated in this image - create a "psychic" or "mental" shield around your consciousness.

Don't let any negative or harmful influences penetrate that shield.

Loretta is very strong, but also easily wounded emotionally, like so many deeply empathetic people. I cultivate compassion for others, but I also do not let people's opinions or bullshit get to me.

It is very difficult to become immune to judgement and the influence of others. However, by envisioning this "Life Force Field" around you and working to overcome fear, a courage develops that empowers all our experiences.

Nature Yoga Poses in Parvin State Park

Loretta and I recently went to Parvin State Park here in NJ to walk the trails. It was a beautiful walk through the woods and around the lake.

Being outdoors and connecting with nature is something we both love, and it is one of our purest spiritual pursuits.

While walking through the park, we took a couple pics in which we echoed the scenery around us through yoga poses.

Here is Loretta doing an Eagle pose (Garudasana) in front of a twisted uprooted tree system:

I decided to do a one-legged chair (Eka Pada Utkatasana) in front of the lake, mimicking the wooden piling behind me:

Loretta @ Blue Lotus Yoga

This week Loretta started teaching at the Blue Lotus Yoga studio in Hammonton, NJ.

She is teaching there on Thursdays at 6pm, and her first class got everyone (even the advanced practitioners!) focused and sweating, with restorative poses at the end.

As Loretta's husband, I am very proud of her for all that she is doing to bring the true spirit of yoga to those who come to her classes. She is a truly remarkable soul, and I watch in amazement as her light shines through to those around her. I have taken classes with some awesome instructors, but I'm not ashamed to be biased & say that I love taking my wife's classes most of all!

The Blue Lotus studio is great, and owner Dan Haber has created an amazing space with art and sacred geometry. We feel grateful to have the opportunity to practice there.

We all "Suffer" at Times

Although Life is beautiful and joyous, there are always going to be times of stress and pain. I am human, as well as you, and I feel pain at times that sends me into a downward spiral of negative thinking and distorted perception. This negative cyclone spins me into thinking that I will call "distorted perception", because it makes me think that it is the end-all thinking. Does this happen to you?

I start to think myself to death and stay awake at night mulling over in my head conversations, past events and situations at hand and how to deal with them. I feel there is a degree of human nature here, where we can solve problems, especially problems that effect our livelihood, but there is a degree of insanity here, as well.

When I say "insanity, " I do not mean psychiatric illness, which in our country has a nasty undertone attached to it- I mean insanity of our own personal health and freedom. An oppression, depression, even a damper on or freedom to be ourselves and shine brighter than a diamond. Its a burden to our truest soul.

My soul wants to shine and be free amongst the other souls that roam this planet. When we overthink, we allow our "minds" to take over. Yes, in some theories, our minds and our souls are two different things. The soul is a bright light, and extension of God and a link to ALL other beings that shed that same light. The mind, however, is the thoughts, the fears, the emotions, the OVER THINKING and the rational thought machine that most people allow to make their decisions based ONLY on logic.

Is it bad to only think logically? Not at all, but this is not the only source of decision-making that we have as humans. In a society where we must answer questions and make decisions lickity-split due to work and other societal indoctrination, we feel that the rational, quick acting, critically thinking mind is the only thing to use for best decision making and better success. What ever happened to "using your feelings." LOL "Luke, Search Your Feelings." Why do I laugh? Because I never liked Star Wars and my husband, Paul is a serious Star Wars fanatic. Now I am starting to see why.

I am tired of only thinking from the mind. The mind brings stress and fear. At the same time, you need the stress and the fear and the mind to an EXTENT. Balance my friend, balance. By most using your soul, your inner voice in combination with checking in with the mind, you could have a good formula of decision making. Now you may say, "what if I cannot tell the difference from my soul and the inner voice of fear," which I completely understand and have felt numerous times. My answer is to stop, rest, take time and LISTEN. Speak to God. Speak to your inner self. Do things that make you happy. Sit quietly. Listen to the birds. Go to the beach alone. Heck, do SOMETHING ALONE, which most of us will not do, and LISTEN.

"What is wisdom and where is it to be found? Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and just listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions." - Eckart Tolle

When he says "stillness," he dose not necessarily mean SILENCE. this stillness can be found in ANY situation.

Thank you listening!

This workshop on mindfulness & relaxation techniques for parents was held at Pennsville School District in NJ on 1/24/19, with yoga instructor Loretta DeStefano-Micarelli, RN-BSN & her husband
Paul Micarelli.

We gave parents and staff various techniques to relax and increase mindfulness in their everyday life. The workshop offered scientific insights into the environmental & physiological origins of stress, and the proven ways to relieve the anxiety that plagues our physical, mental, & spiritual being.

The Conscious Living for YOU Website is Here!

Loretta & I created the brand and this blog for Conscious Living For YOU as a resource for people who want to lead a healthier lifestyle.

In addition to being a creative professional and being interested in spirituality & meditative traditions, I have a science background and love to learn about everything.

Loretta is a nurse and a yoga teacher with a RN, BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). She has a strong background in science, health, nutrition, and a passion for naturopathy and an integrative approach to medicine.

After working on it last weekend, I'm excited to announce the new website for Conscious Living For YOU is live!

It will be the central location for all info on Loretta's yoga classes, as well as a source for my graphic design for health & wellness businesses.

We hope to inspire others to improve their state of being, mental & physical. We also hope to inform on the best practices of both science & spirituality.

Please check it out, and share it if you think others will be interested. Thank you!

Love Light Yoga & Arts Festival 2018

Last weekend, Loretta & I went to the Pearlstone Center in Reisterstown, Maryland for the Love Light Yoga & Arts Festival.

Here is a photo album of our experiences with some videos, too:

Google Photos:

We camped out from Friday to Sunday afternoon, and had an awesome time. The outdoor setting of the Pearlstone Center among the rolling hills, fields, & trees was a beautiful environment for mindful practice of yoga, and just for the joy of being alive!

Everything was in walking distance, and from our campsite on a hill, you could see most of the grounds, with the various pavilions & buildings.

There were dozens of classes and workshops over the course of the weekend, covering all kinds of topics and practices. I went to several different yoga classes- including ayurvedic & acrobatic/thai yoga (partnered up with my wife), and also kundalini meditations, tantric shamanism & breathing workshops. Loretta went to power & primal flow yogas, and also participated in events at the Healing Village. It's so great to have all these opportunities to try new techniques with different teachers, all in one location.

There was also a main stage with musicians and bands, playing throughout the days & nights. One set that stood out to me was singer Ajeet Kaur & Sukhmani Kaur Rayat on tabla drums. The music & vibe the artists were putting out was amazing.

There were also artists & vendors with booths around the concert area, selling all kinds of cool items & services.

The last night we were there, Loretta & I left the main stage around midnight & went to a bonfire and drum circle. It was family-friendly, with no visible drugs or alcohol (other than us being the only 2 with drinks in our hand, & the occasional smell of some weed being smoked out of sight.)

It got wild, as I ended up being shirtless & we joined the dance around the heat of the blazing fire. Finally, Loretta told me it was 2am, & we should get going so we could get some sleep for the next day. I could have partied all night, but I also didn't want to feel like garbage the next day.

Unfortunately, it started raining on Sunday, making the conditions fairly miserable. Everything got muddy & wet, but we still went to classes and workshops until we decided to head out in the afternoon when there was a brief pause in the rain for us to pack up our tents & gear.

The festival overall was a memorable and enlightening experience (even with having to pack up in the crappy weather). When the weather was nice, it was downright utopian. We met a lot of kind, loving, & inspirational people who felt like a big community. The location was idyllic and a perfect setting for a festival like Love Light.

We are probably going to go back next year if they have it there again, and hopefully the weather will be nice the whole time!

September 2018 Yoga Classes

Loretta is the yoga instructor at a local fitness center, The Fit Barn on Delsea. She has grown into a dedicated and motivating teacher, & I try to attend as many classes as possible to support my lovely wife.

Yoga has become an integral part of our lifestyle over the past couple years. Our practice has greatly increased the quality of our lives- giving us more strength, flexibility, energy, muscle tone, and better overall health.

People of all shapes, sizes, ages, and skill levels have been coming out to her classes, and it's wonderful to see people making the effort to live a healthier lifestyle. We have seen a lot of new faces in the classes, and there are many people coming back after feeling the benefit of the all-levels classes. Those who attend the classes leave feeling happy & invigorated.

We also started a monthly newsletter for Conscious Living for You, in which Loretta is sharing wisdom & information about the yogic lifestyle. To sign up for the newsletter, please message us on Facebook and include "Subscribe" in the subject.

I just made the new graphics below for September's classes, showing the schedule & pricing- as well as the promo for this month.

Nature is NOT Human-Hearted

One way I want to help reach people through our Conscious Living for You page is using my design skills to create motivational or inspirational graphics.

"Nature is NOT Human-Hearted"
-Lao-Tzu

The Universe, God, the Tao, Nature... whatever you want to call the overall, organizing principle of our reality... it does NOT think, feel, or act as we do.

This is a fundamental error of our ego, to apply our own human characteristics to the world at large. In doing so, we reduce it to a caricature like the mythological god Zeus.
